Telangana: Covid-19 infection is spreading among medical college students
Covid-19 infection is spreading very drastically in Telangana and shockingly, it is found among medical students of first and second year in private medical colleges in Hyderabad and also in Ranga Reddy district.
As many as 30 students from three medical colleges have been detected with the infection and were asked to go home as their colleagues have got infected.
Also, two other private colleges have reported the virus infection, but they have shifted students to different blocks.
However, tests are underway and all the students have been asked to stay extra careful.
A senior professor of a medical college said, “Common areas are the culprits where students interact with each other, and it is very important to maintain social distancing norm in classrooms and canteens and keep the mask on all the time. When these protocols are not followed, there are bound to be fresh cases. We are counseling students regularly and lapses on their part lead to fresh eruptions.”
Another senior doctor of the Indian Medical Association in the state says, “Medical colleges must strictly follow the safety protocols. Else, they will face the same fate as of other educational institutions. If there are rising cases, there will be panic in parents and also a pressure on the institute.”

Study: 4th Covid vaccine dose effective in protecting people over 60
As per the new Israeli-led study, the largest healthcare organisation Clalit said fourth dose of Covid vaccine is effective for protecting people aged 60 and above.
The study found that a fourth dose can reduce the possibilities of symptomatic infection, hospitalisation, serious illness and mortality among the elders, Clalit said, Xinhua news agency reported.
In the study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, Clalit researchers and their colleagues from Harvard University in Boston analysed data from 182,122 Clalit members, all aged 60 and above, who received Pfizer’s fourth dose.
“The study unequivocally demonstrates that the fourth dose provides effective protection in preventing morbidity,” said Ran Balicer, Director of the Clalit Research Institute.
“It will help every person to make a decision on the fourth vaccine based on their level of personal risk,” he added.
