Energy drink:

An energy drink is a type of drink containing stimulant compounds, sugars, caffeine, which is marketed as providing mental and physical stimulation. Mostly energy drinks are the instant boosters with caffeine and sugars, they may make you feel fresh and energized and are largely advertised with the different colors.

Threats:

  1. Caffeine threat: Having high amount of caffeine can cause jitters, trouble in sleeping, and fast heartbeat.
  2. Sugar threat: Having high amount sugar can cause a phenomenon called as sugar crash, this may make you feel tired. So they are not meant for sporting activities. High sugar content can also cause weight gain and cavities.
  3. Quinine: Quinine is used in these energy drinks, which is bad for bones.
  4. Addiction: It can be addictive. It can also cause electrolyte abnormalities.

Suggestions:

  1. It is recommended to have a grape fruit juice or an orange juice as an alternative to replenish the lost electrolytes. Instead of fancy energy drinks who claim the presence of vitamins and amino acids.
  2.  It is recommended to the drink water instead of energy drinks. These energy drinks do not replace water and minerals that one loses when we sweat. Caffeine can actually make you more dehydrated.
