Eating disorder:

An eating disorder is a serious mental illness, characterized by eating, exercise and body weight or shape becoming an unhealthy per occupation of someone’s life.

Facts about eating disorders:

  1. Eating disorders are the most deadly health disorder because they cause myriad physical health problems that can lead to death.
  2. Eating disorders may or may not be associated with a distorted body image.
  3. They are equally prevalent across race an ethnicity.

Common types of eating disorders:

  1. Anorexia
  2. Bulimia
  3. Binge eating disorder
  4. Pica
  5. Rumination
  6. Avoidant.

Signs that may lead to the development of an eating disorder include:

  1. Low self-esteem
  2. Extreme self-criticism
  3. Needing to be and do things perfectly
  4. Obsessive exercising
