The Union health ministry announced that the foreign nationals residing in India are now eligible to take Covid-19 vaccines in the country.

The ministry added that the foreign nationals will have to register themselves on the government’s CoWIN platform using their passports as proof of identity.

In a press release, the government said, “A significant number of foreign nationals are living in India, especially in large metropolitan areas. In these areas, the potential for spread of Covid-19 is high due to higher population density. To counter the possibility of any such occurrence, it is important to vaccinate all eligible persons.”
