We are no new to period acne and dealing with it is quite a task, and we know it! So, here we are with a guide for dealing with the period acne.

What is period acne / premenstrual acne ?

The period acne is very different from regular acne and comes up right before your period. And, usually goes away after your period ends. It mainly occurs due to the drop in the hormones progesterone and oestrogen.

It occurs in various forms like blackheads, cysts, pustules etc and can be painful.

What you should do?

  1. Use a hot or cold compress to soothe and reduce pain and swelling
  2. You can also use tea tree oil, salicyclic acid or benzoyl peroxide to spot treat it.
  3. Also, you can try applying natural anti-inflammatory agents like – honey, apple cidar vinegar.

What you shouldn’t do?

  1. Do not use too many skin care products or make up.
  2. Do not eat processed and junk food.
  3. Do not pop, scrape or scratch your pimples. Remember, it will worsen the condition.
