Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) chief commissioner Gaurav Gupta has directed all schools to identify nodal authorities and ask them to check for children with Covid-like symptoms persisting for more than two days and get them tested.

“All schools in Bengaluru must identify nodal officers and they should work in co-ordination with the health officer working in the primary health centre that falls in the same area as the school. Students with symptoms persisting for more than two days must be asked not to attend the school,” Gupta said.

“Vaccines should be given to those who come in contact with school-going children. This will keep everyone safe. Covid infection is not found in a lot of children in the city. At least 7.21 per cent infection percentage is found in children aged 0 to 12 years and 8.21 per cent in 13 to 18-year-old children,” the chief commissioner said.
