As per reports, the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) will issue guidelines for Covid vaccination of comorbid children by September.

The reports said that the NTAGI is currently framing guidelines on vaccination for comorbid children in India, and it will be sent to the health ministry for final approval before the rollout likely in September.

Earlier, the panel’s chief NK Arora had said, children with comorbidities will be administered Covid vaccines first.

The National Institute of Disaster Management’s (NIDM) report on a possible Covid third wave said children could be at risk.

“Public health messaging and communication with respect to Covid-appropriate behaviour (CAB) and vaccination should be based on community engagement and must address specific concerns of the community members, especially in rural areas,” it said.

“Risk communication must aim to create awareness by explaining the reasons behind the dos and don’ts so that people are able to follow them,” it said.
