Covid-19 in India: iSera Biologicals conducting Phase 1 trials of injectable drug
India’s first indigenously developed injectable drug to treat the coronavirus infection is definitely underway. The phase 1 clinical trials of the same are being done in Maharashtra by Kolhapur-based iSera Biologicals.
The iSera Biologicals had secured permission for its Phase 1 clinical trials from the government’s Subject Expert Committee (SEC). These trails are currently being carried out in two batches at two hospitals in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur and Sangli.
Managing Director of iSera Biologicals Prataprao Deshmukh said he is confident that the drug will yield positive results.
“Requirements of the SEC have been met and its guidelines are being followed to carry out the Phase 1 human trials. The Pune-based Serum institute of India is our technology partner,” he said.
