Social media is abuzz with lots and lots of news regarding the value of the Covid-19 vaccine and it’s power on people. Also, many posts are floating around regarding it’s potency in women, who are menstruating, saying that it lowers the immunity. And hence, taking the vaccine five days before, during or after your periods won’t be safe.

Not just this, a few other posts mentioned that the first dose of the vaccine decreases immunity and later gets to built up.

According to Dr Divya Swetha, Consultant at Obsterics & Gynaecology, Ankura Hospitals, Madinaguda (Hyderabad), vaccines are absolutely safe during periods.

She says, “Period or no period, get your vaccination.”

She further added that there is no data or study validating this claim and it is safely recommended for all women above 18 excluding pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
