The UNICEF warned that at least 332 million children (one in seven) are at risk with their mental health and well being because of the lockdown related to Covid-19 pandemic.

It is already a known fact that India had one of the strictest lockdowns in the world and the pandemic has entered its second year. This has taken a huge toll on the psychological and mental health of Children and young people.

Especially for children because of the violence, abuse or neglect at home. Because the lockdown has left many stranded without the support of teachers, communities, closed ones etc.

Also, many rely on their schools for the support and to interact with other children, access nutritious meals and health services. So, when the schools are shut for longer duration, their situation and childhood becomes more unbearable, impacting their mental health.

The experts of Public Health said that mental health is an important issue and needs urgent attention.
