Covid-19 in India: 1.86 lakh new cases in 24 hours, lowest in 44 days

The second wave of Covid-19 is disrupting lives across the country and the case count increased to nearly 2.75 crore as 1.86 lakh more people tested positive in a single day. But this is the lowest daily rise in 44 days.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said with 2,59,459 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the recovery rate in India increased to 90.34 per cent.

India’s worst-hit state, Maharashtra recorded 21,273 new cases and the death of 884 patients.

After Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh have the highest number of infections.

On the other hand, the country conducted 33,90,39,861 coronavirus tests on Thursday. “A total of 33,90,39,861 samples tested up to May 27. Of these, 20,70,508 samples tested yesterday,” the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

Also, the Union health ministry added that a total of 20.57 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far. India administered a total of 29,19,699 doses in the last 24 hours.
